About BioSonic

BioSonic is a Stockholm-based Biodiversity & AI company that builds the most accurate bat sound analysis platform in independent benchmarks. Founded in 2024, our deep learning models are trained on 2.5 million bat calls and 3.5 million noise files, achieving 98.7% F1 accuracy in independent benchmarks. Ecological consultants, government agencies, and conservation researchers across Europe use BioSonic for automatic species identification, behaviour classification, and collaborative review. The platform processes recordings from all major bat detector hardware in the web browser and delivers species-level results fast, replacing weeks of manual spectrogram analysis.

Our mission

Bat surveys generate enormous volumes of ultrasonic recordings, and turning that raw audio into reliable species data has traditionally meant weeks of manual spectrogram review. We started BioSonic to remove that bottleneck — so ecologists can spend their time on ecology, not on scrubbing through audio. Our mission is to make the most accurate automatic bat identification available to every consultant, agency, and researcher working to protect biodiversity.

The science & accuracy

BioSonic's classification is powered by deep learning models built specifically for bat echolocation and social calls. The models are trained on 2.5 million bat calls and 3.5 million noise files, which lets them separate real bat passes from wind, rain, insects, and equipment noise — the single biggest source of error in automatic identification.
